What’s inside?

MGA Clean Color Brush

This is a real brush pen with a bristle, soft tip. When pushing down the nip and turning the marker you can see the single nylon fibers. Depending on the amount of pressure applied you are able to vary the line width from very thin to thick. The nib always returns to its original form. I included 12 different colors for you to enjoy this large range of colors. The water-based dye ink is odorless and perfect to dilute colors.

GraphMaster Aquarell Brush

A dual tip water-based marker with a brush tip and a fine tip. The brush tip consists of hard fiber that only allows gentle pressure to be applied. The fine tip is even harder, most suitable for detailed works. 4 markers as booty for my crew. You can mix them with the MGA Clean Color Brush.

Upcrate Water Tank Brush Marker

This water brush impresses with easy handling. Unscrew the marker clockwise, fill water inside, close it counter-clockwise and be ready to experience a convenient way to dilute water colors. The high-quality synthetic hairs are soft and spongy to hold a lot of water. If you need more water or like to rinse out colors you can gently squeeze the barrel for a controlled water release.  Use it to mix water colors on your aquarelle paper.

Faber-Castell no. 9000 Graphite Pencil- 2B

A genuinely classic pencil with environmentally friendly water-based varnish – was launched by Count Alexander von Faber-Castell in early 1905. Its quality and finely graduated degrees of hardness have made it a firm favorite with artists and illustrators. Its lead is fully bonded with the wood surround and is therefore particularly break resistant. I supplied you with a 2B degree of hardness.

Koh-I-Noor 1900 Graphite Pencil Toison D´Or- HB

This hexagonal graphite pencil is suitable for technicians, graphic designers and artists. Quality at its’ best… this pencil has been unchanged for 50 years with the factory being in place for more than 225 years. This HB gradient pencil is made of cedar wood and comes in a black design with gold bands-this is what I call timeless style.

Koh-I-Noor 8800 Gioconda Aquarelle Graphite Pencil- 4B

This water-soluble aquarelle pencil has a water color effect. It is intended for artistic drawing on water color paper. The pigment of the lead dissolves completely when brushed with water. I added a soft 4B gradient which gives away more lead to stress on this effect.

Lefranc & Bourgeois Standard Brush- no. 2

For those of you who prefer detailed work with a brush here comes a tiny hairbrush in size no. 2.

Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser

A premium quality eraser for first-class erasing performance with little wear and minimal crumbling. It leaves no discoloration on paper and being age-resistant, you will have a lot of fun on our journey. The phthalate and latex free eraser has a sliding sleeve for convenient handling.

Staedtler Metal Sharpener

This classic metal sharpener is suitable for standard-sized black-lead pencils up to 8.2 mm diameter. With a sharpening angle of 23°, wood is pealed off to being able to enjoy clear and accurate lines.

Reflex Mix Media Paper

This multifaceted grainy art paper is suitable for a large variety of wet and dry techniques. It is smooth enough to make sketching with a pencil convenient and rough enough to apply water for water color drawings. The paper has a thickness of 300 gsm. This German factory manufactures paper for fine art for more than 160 years. You can find their paper sold as Reflex and Schoellershammer brands.

Every month, the crate is
presented by an amazing artist.
This month it is:

Co-Captain kloodwig

Hey Mates, my Co-Captain for the very first crate – Kloodwig. Kloodwig is an artist from Germany who focuses on illustrations in digital & traditional media.

Where do you find your inspirations? Where do your ideas come from?

Most of my ideas come from other forms of art such as; music, movies, photography but also from random things in my everyday life. Recently I found myself get inspired by color palettes, it doesn’t matter if it’s a scene in a movie or nail design, some color combinations inspire me to interpret them in my own way.

Your special tip for the art crew what to do with the art supplies in this Upcrate:

My special tip is to experiment with the amount of water you are using with your brushes, you can achieve flat color areas but also very fun and interesting abstracts depending on the amount of water. It’s also really fun to mix colors in a very wet area and satisfying to see how they flow into each other.

What do you associate with Art Crew?

To me, an art crew is a community where people swap ideas, share knowledge and inspire each other to grow. Being an artist can be a very lonely journey if you don’t have people around you to share your interest with. So it doesn’t matter if you find your art crew in school, your neighborhood or online, everybody needs other artists around them to help and support each other.
